Resveratrol Side effects

Resveratrol has become a very famous substance in recent years. Found quite easily, and famously in red wine, it has been said to increase resistance against illness and even old age. But what are the side effects, if any?

When any substance is taken into the body, whether eaten or drank, there is always a risk, however small, of some side effects. This is especially true with newer substances, Resveratrol included, where testing may not yet be as stringent as it could be. Long term studies based on human experiences may not yet be in place, much less documented, so there is a possibility of some risk as regards the substance that you are allowing into your body.

Not all side effects, however, are negative. This is an important distinction to remember. Perhaps the most famous example in recent years of a drug that had a positive side effect is that of Viagra. Back in the early days of development, this drug was originally created to help with chest pains and blood pressure problems. Pfizer, the company who developed the drug, found quite happily that it also had a very positive impact in the area of erectile dysfunction, otherwise known as impotence. The drug is now world famous, and has changed millions of lives. While this is a more extreme example offside effects being positive, it serves to illustrate that a side effect can be a good as well as a bad thing.

Side effects as regards Resveratrol are a grey area, at least in the respect that long term human studies are few and far between. However, it is possible to develop an understanding from the work done on laboratory mice, as well as look at some personal consumption accounts, in order for us to achieve an understanding of the side effects the drug can carry.

That said, personal accounts have brought up a short list of what could be termed negative side effects. Remember that these are not always common among users, and that every individual who takes Resveratrol does not automatically suffer any side effects. This means that you could take the substance and experience no side effects at all, or experience many. It is worth bearing this in mind so that you can achieve a perspective on the issue.

In addition, if you do take Resveratrol, and suffer from what you think are negative side effects, seek medical advice. Your doctor will be only too happy to offer advice and support. Resveratrol has been shown to have very positive effects on human health, so taking the substance is an experience that should be entered into a in a positive way.

As regards negative side effects then, there have been a few reports of Tendinitis pain. This pain has been most commonly reported in the Achilles tendon. It has also been reported in other tendons too. This is an easy matter to take care of if it occurs. Simply let your doctor know and they will prescribe simple remedies if the complaint persists.

Arthritic joint pain has been known to occur with high doses of Resveratrol. Many people who seek out the substance tend to look for it in a natural state. This means red wine and peanuts, as well as some berries. If this is the case, the chances of taking a high dose are very slim, if supplements are taken that contain a high dose, however, then arthritic joint pain may be an issue.

There have been reports of a jitteriness, or edginess, after taking Resveratrol. This has been compared to the high that is achieved soon after drinking coffee or tea, or other caffeine containing drinks. While for some people this may be a little unsettling, it is very temporary, and causes no lasting harm or discomfort.
Finally, one side effect that some people can also view as a positive as well as a negative is a loss of appetite. This, of course, is something that can be a good or bad thing, and there are various remedies available.

Again, side effects are based on personal experience with all drugs. Resveratrol has great positive qualities, and if you do experience any of the above and feel uncomfortable, seek advice from your doctor.
